Dear Friends,

I am sending you a few words to mark the launch of this new version of Click to Pray. In November 2014, the Apostleship of Prayer, Portugal, with the help of the agency, La Machi, initiated this App to help the young discover the ways of prayer. I thank them for their initiative which met with remarkable success. Beginning today, this updated App, Click to Pray, becomes the new communications platform of the Pope’s World-Wide Prayer Network (the Apostleship of Prayer). It focuses on the challenges facing humanity and the mission of the Church which Pope Francis proposes each month.

In his Lenten message (2015), he says: “Flooded with news reports and troubling images of human suffering, we often feel our complete inability to help. What can we do to avoid being caught up in this spiral of distress and powerlessness? First, we can pray in communion with the Church on earth and in heaven. Let us not underestimate the power of so many voices united in prayer!”

Click to Pray can help us surmount widespread indifference and become part of a culture of common concern. It will help us open our hearts each day to men, women and children, both in our own, and in other countries, who face the formidable challenges of our contemporary world.  Click to Pray invites us to be participants in a network of millions of people seeking a new world, a world of peace, justice and fraternity. It is prayer in action linking us to the whole world. “Do not underestimate the power of the prayer of so many people!” says Pope Francis. This is why, “Together, every day is different.”

On this First Friday of the month, March 4th, 2016, the day on which Pope Francis invites us to live “24 hours for the Lord”, we launched the new version of Click to Pray.  We hope that it will help those wishing to penetrate deeply into this Jubilee Year of Mercy to pray with Pope Francis for the challenges facing our world and the mission of the Church.
