Awaken our missionary capacity
The mission of the Pope’s Worldwide Network of Prayer (Apostleship of Prayer) is to awaken our missionary capacity.
“The Church’s closeness to Jesus is part of a common journey; “communion and mission are profoundly interconnected.” In fidelity to the example of the Master, it is vitally important for the Church today to go forth and preach the Gospel to all: to all places, on all occasions, without hesitation, reluctance or fear. The joy of the Gospel is for all people: no one can be excluded.” Francis – The Joy of the Gospel, No. 23.
The Apostleship of Prayer was created in 1844 and is closely united to the mission of the Church and the contemplation of the world’s problems, which gave way in a concrete manner to pray for the intentions of the Church and the Pope. It takes us on a “way of the heart” that focuses life on a personal and emotional relationship with Jesus Christ, for our compassion of Jesus and to offer our apostolic availability (No. 8 A Path of the Heart).
This road is, above all, an aid to specify, develop and maintain a daily attitude of apostolic openness, by offering one’s life.
It is an proposal that helps unite everyday life to the mission God has for each one, in docility to his Spirit. It is to recognize that the heart of every Christian is a fertile ground of calling and committing oneself to the mission of the Risen Christ.
The Apostleship of Prayer is at the service of the dioceses and Christian communities to support the formation of the laity and help the spiritual revitalization of church groups and parishes in a missionary perspective.
Many groups of the AP in the world are already committed, according to their means, in the revitalization of the spiritual life of the Christian communities to which they belong.
