From 23 to 26 July, the National Directors of the Eucharistic Youth Movement (EYM) in Europe held their first continental meeting in Taizé, France, a place renowned for prayer and dialogue among Christians from different Churches.

Founded in the 1940s by Brother Roger Schutz, the Taizé Community welcomes thousands of young people from around the world each year, offering them an experience of prayer, silence and encounter. Against this backdrop, representatives of the EYM from Albania, Belgium, France, Italy, Malta, Poland, Portugal and Spain spent several days together in prayer, reflection and collaborative work.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discern the challenges and opportunities facing the EYM in Europe, strengthen the bonds between the national teams, and continue the revision of the International Manual of the Eucharistic Youth Movement, with the aim of providing an increasingly valuable resource for the life and mission of local communities.

Gathered at the heart of a community dedicated to fostering unity among Christians, the participants renewed their commitment to accompanying young people on their journey of friendship with Jesus and service to the Church.
