On the feast of Saint Joseph, patron of the Society of Jesus, the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network shares the publication of its new General Regulations, a document that guides the identity, mission, and organization of this pontifical work globally.

The Regulations are the result of a process that began in 2010, when the Society of Jesus initiated a path of renewal for the Apostleship of Prayer, subsequently accompanied by Pope Francis. This journey has allowed the Network to progressively consolidate its identity as a mission at the service of the Church in the contemporary world.

The new document establishes clear criteria regarding the nature and functioning of the Network at an international level and marks a new step in its development as a work entrusted directly by the Holy See to the Society of Jesus. In this sense, it reaffirms its place within the mission of the Jesuits and its priority status in apostolic ministries.

Furthermore, national teams are invited to learn about, share, and apply the Regulations in their respective contexts, promoting their coordination with local Churches and Episcopal Conferences.

The Regulations will be in effect for an initial period of two years, during which experiences of its implementation will be gathered to continue discerning the future path of this mission at the service of the challenges of humanity and the mission of the Church.
