Advisory Committees: A shared perspective for discerning the mission of the Prayer Network

The mission that the Holy Father entrusts to the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network is universal, and for that reason it needs the support of a variety of people who help discern the best service we can offer as a Pontifical Apostolic Work.

The General Regulations, published in March 2026, introduced a body to accompany the International Management Team under the name of Advisory Committees: “In order to support, provide a universal perspective and accompany the pastoral mission of this ecclesial service, several support groups with representatives from different countries form part of the international coordination of this Pontifical Apostolic Work.” (GR II, 1.3)

Three of these groups are the Formation, Youth and Finance Committees. They are not working teams or parallel structures, but a space of accompaniment for discernment. With their knowledge and experience in the Church, their members help guide the decisions that the Management Team makes in service of the Prayer Network.

Since 2025, the Finance Committee has been helping to assess the organization’s financial structure, project the needs of the Vatican Foundation and ensure adequate support for the International Office and its pastoral projects. In recent months, two more committees have begun their work: the Formation Committee, which accompanies the review and validation of international materials, and the Youth Committee, which accompanies discernment on the reality of young people worldwide, helping to address their needs in the different regional contexts and guiding their international organization.

The members of the committees come from Brazil, Australia, Kenya, the United States, India, Spain, France, Italy and the Curia of the Society of Jesus. Their service helps the Network continue to respond, with humility and hope, to the mission of compassion for the world that the Holy Father has entrusted to it.

The Prayer Network also counts on the support of the International Council, made up of the six Continental Coordinators, who assist the Executive Management Team in its regular mission of animation and coordination of the Pontifical Work.
