The event, broadcast from Rome on the solemnity of Corpus Christi, brought together young people from all five continents to commemorate the history and mission of the EYM.
On the solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Eucharistic Youth Movement (EYM), the youth branch of the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, celebrated its 110th anniversary with an international online gathering. The broadcast connected members of the movement from different countries in a space of prayer and communion.
The event was led from Rome by Fr. Cristóbal Fones, SJ, International Director of the EYM, along with Br. Alessandro Di Mauro, SJ, and Elisa from EYM Italy. During the gathering, an “unboxing” was held to present objects representing the movement’s global history. Items such as scarves from Vietnam and Burkina Faso, a hat from Paraguay, a cross from Chile, and materials from Poland and South Korea were displayed, illustrating the international presence of the EYM. These symbols all share a common identity and connection in Christ.
The gathering included a moment of prayer and meditation on the passage of the disciples of Emmaus (Luke 24). Fr. Fones explained the three pillars of the EYM based on this Scripture: Gospel, Eucharist, and Mission.
The celebration concluded with the communal prayer of the Our Father, recited by participants in their own languages while they actively shared through the chat from different parts of the world. It was an opportunity to share the spirituality of the EYM and to come together again as a community.
