Why set out on the road to Emmaus and listen to a new podcast retreat this October 1st? On this day, we celebrate St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, patroness of the EYM and patroness of the missions. Through this retreat, we are invited to walk the road to Emmaus and to experience, in prayer, the heart of the EYM spirituality: the Word, the Eucharist, and Mission.
What if, in this missionary month, prayer were to become, with the disciples of Emmaus and St. Thérèse, a path of mission?
A little way, a great Love
Like the disciples of Emmaus,
St. Thérèse made her own inner journey.
Like them, she let herself be touched by the Word.
Like them, her heart burned within her.
Like them, she encountered Jesus in the Eucharist.
Like them, this encounter transformed her.
Like them, she arose and set out once again.
But Thérèse found her own path.
Her “little way.” A simple path. A path of love.
A path where prayer becomes mission.
Where the love received becomes love given.
Where love shapes the heart, transforms life, and sends us out to others.
So, like the disciples of Emmaus, she set out on her way again.
With a burning heart, full of love.
With a heart sent on mission: “In the heart of the Church, my Mother, I will be Love.”
We will be Love And we,
members and friends of the EYM,
let us listen to the retreat of the disciples of Emmaus and set out on the journey,
with St. Thérèse,along her little way—a way for us too: To welcome the Word,
to let our hearts burn,
to let ourselves be transformed by the Eucharist,
and to set out again into the world.
To pray. To serve. To love. And to become, day by day, witnesses of Christ’s Love,
sent to the heart of the world on a mission of compassion.
Let’s pray together on: Pray us you go
