Fr. Cristóbal Fones SJ, International Director of the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, together with Fr. Miguel Pedro Melo SJ, International Vice-Director, presented this Pontifical Apostolic Work at the 38th General Assembly of the Conference of Jesuit Provincials of Europe (JCEP), held in Warsaw from April 23 to 28.

This meeting brought together Provincials and Major Superiors from various Jesuit provinces, along with the Superior General, Fr. Arturo Sosa SJ. It was a space for reflection on the life and mission of the Society, addressing topics such as formation, collaboration between training centers, the social apostolate, and current pastoral challenges.

The presentation provided a deeper understanding of the Prayer Network as a mission entrusted to the Society of Jesus—not as a closed association, but as an open network that coordinates various forms of participation, communities, and charisms centered on prayer for the challenges of humanity and the mission of the Church. In this regard, the new General Regulations offered a renewed framework to understand its identity and plan its development in different contexts.

Beyond the informational aspect, this space encouraged direct dialogue with the European Provincials, allowing for a more personal and concrete reception of the Network’s mission in a context marked by great cultural and ecclesial diversity. Presenting the Network in this forum contributes to strengthening its integration into the apostolic life of the Society in Europe, opening new perspectives for its development.

The Assembly, which also included moments of exchange, common discernment, and fraternal gathering among the Provincials, addressed challenges from a more universal perspective, fostering shared responses and greater collaboration between the various provinces.

The participation of the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network in this meeting represents a significant step in consolidating its mission in Europe, strengthening its coordination with the Society of Jesus and renewing its service to the Church on the continent.
